JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – MTN Business has committed to empowering South African small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) to harness the power of technology to accelerate their business growth.
This is through a one-day “Technology Redefined” conference for “SMEs by SMEs’” set for Johannesburg on August 22.
The event, the first of its kind, will bring together approximately 500 MTN small business customers, entrepreneurs and business owners.
“We recognise that although many SMEs are eager to adopt technology, they face several practical obstacles that can limit their ability to grow, compete and succeed in South Africa’s evolving economy,” said Nkosi Kumalo, General Manager for SMEs at MTN South Africa.
For entrepreneurs in the SME sector, which accounts for an estimated 40 percent of South Africa’s GDP, these obstacles may include limited access to affordable digital tools, unreliable connectivity in rural or underserved areas, gaps in digital skills and challenges in integrating new technologies into their operations, Khumalo said.
The official said these concerns, along with practical, available solutions, would be discussed at “Technology Redefined.”
“At the event, a particular focus, identified by our research, will be on demystifying the world of 5G and AI and offering participants the opportunity to join masterclasses on harnessing AI to help take their businesses to the next level.”
There will be exhibition stands and demonstrations from leading MTN technology partners such as Cisco and Microsoft, as well as SMEs who have developed solutions tailored to the needs of other small businesses.
