Air Mauritius announces new Brand Ambassador, Jonathan Boynton-Lee, who shares its big dreams

Carla da Silva, Air Mauritius Regional Manager: Southern Africa and Latin America confirms that Boynton-Lee has signed a 12-month agreement, but she believes his will be a long-term ambassadorial role. “The objective will be to raise the profile of the brand and to create more awareness of Air Mauritius’s value propositions” she explains. Boynton-Lee is a highly-respected and accomplished South African TV presenter, actor and film director. But it was his positivity and his enthusiastic championing of the Reach for a Dream Foundation and its work, which piqued the interest of Da Silva.

A partnership built on shared values
Da Silva recognised that the Reach For a Dream Foundation, Air Mauritius and Boynton-Lee all had something in common: Dreams.  “The Reach For a Dream Foundation is Air Mauritius’s Charity of Choice. It is South Africa’s premier NGO and its mission is to fulfil dreams for children with life-threatening diseases. Jonathan is all about dreams. As a youth, he had a ‘dream wall’ that inspired him and he says he never stops dreaming. Likewise, the Air Mauritius philosophy is to make dreams come true – be it dreams of travel to bucket-list destinations, family holidays, beach weddings or a business trip that launches an entrepreneur’s career. What’s more, Air Mauritius, the Foundation and Jonathan all believe in giving back. It was a match made in heaven!” says da Silva.

For Boynton-Lee, the partnership with Air Mauritius is a welcome opportunity. “We met through the work we both do for the Reach For a Dream Foundation, so we understood immediately that our values are aligned,” explains Boynton-Lee. In the next few weeks, Boynton-Lee will kick off his Ambassadorial duties when he promotes Air Mauritius’s wide-body operations. He will also be working with the airline and the Reach For a Dream Foundation, in the development of a travel-themed “Dream Room” – a sanctuary within a paediatric hospital ward, where children affected by life-threatening diseases can escape their clinical surroundings and experience a little childhood joy. Having visited dozens of destinations around the globe, Boynton-Lee is a superb advocate for the four-star Skytrax Airline that not only travels across the globe to 22 destinations, but also that has earned the title of the Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline.

Air Mauritius defines how to Travel Smart
Boynton-Lee will raise awareness about Air Mauritius’s unrivaled value propositions, including the airline’s Travel Smart program. This program makes travel more affordable for families, since two children under 12 years of age fly free with their parents. Plus, the whole family enjoys complimentary Business Class Lounge access in South Africa.

Sports enthusiasts can take along their sports equipment – be it a golf bag or a bicycle – for free. For honeymooners, the Travel Smart Program offers free flights for the bride, too.
Air Mauritius makes business travel better

Boynton-Lee will deliver good news to the corporate sector, when he explains how Air Mauritius will benefit them through cost savings and superlative added value extras. For starters, the airline’s corporate traveller discounts are extremely competitive, with the option to take advantage of the last minute upgrade to Business Class – at a cost of just R3 300.

These fares and discounts are almost too good to be true, given the comfortable and luxurious in-flight experience on Air Mauritius’s new generation A350-900 and A350-900Neo aircraft. Designed for comfort and luxury, these aircraft afford the business class traveler lie-flat seats, sleep-enhancing interior lighting as well as personal lockers and work-stations.

The airline also offers a free stopover in Mauritius, on non-connecting flights (in 4- or 5-star hotels). What’s more, the island’s location is such that flight times to the airline’s 22 different destinations, are shorter than those of Air Mauritius’s competitors – even on trips with indirect routing!
For corporates seeking out MICE solutions, Air Mauritius offers a host of perks, from discounted Business Class Lounge access, to branded headrests on-board, discounted group rates and dedicated airport service.
It’s clear that Air Mauritius believes in value, comfort and delight. As Boynton-Lee will tell you, sweet travel dreams are made of these!
