JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – MCDONALD’S South Africa has marked World Children’s Day by spotlighting the significant contribution its customers have made toward supporting families of seriously ill or injured children.

Through its long-running partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), the company channels 50 cents from every Happy Meal sold, along with voluntary R5 in-store donations, to programmes offering
accommodation, meals, and emotional support to families in medical crisis.

According to the organisation, public generosity over the past year has helped deliver 31,800 meals to families, supported 30,800 mothers through RMHC lactation centres, and provided 41,000 families with a
place to stay near hospitals via Ronald McDonald House facilities.

McDonald’s SA says these initiatives reflect its broader commitment to social impact in the communities it serves.

“Through your loyal support, you help keep families close when it matters most,” the company noted, thanking South Africans for their continued contributions.

Since opening its first local restaurant in 1995, McDonald’s South Africa has expanded to more than 400 outlets and employs over 17,000 people nationwide.

RMHC remains one of its flagship community-upliftment programmes.
